French police have confirmed the death of Paris attack mastermind Abdelhamid Abaaoud after a 7 hour long gunfight at Saint Denis. So far 5 terrorists have been taken into custody. Previously authorities assumed that Abaaoud had fled to Syria right after the attack but the events of 19th November proved otherwise.

Abaaoud’s body was riddled with bullets. A finger print match confirmed his identity. Had he been captured alive, important ISIS related information could be obtained hence it is not clear at this moment whether he was killed in the gunfight or committed suicide. The French police were on the lookout for ISIS operatives since the attack on 13/11 and tip-off led them to the apartment at Saint Denis where the terrorists were holed in.
