Unsuspecting people might not notice anything amiss when they walk into this State Bank of India ATM at Handewadi in Hadapsar, Pune, until they take a look at the makeshift waste paper basket. A grown street dog seems to have made the ATM its den and the basket its bed for a few months now. According to locals, the dog seldom leaves the ATM and can always be seen in there.

The ATM has a designated security guard and has a spring operated door that automatically closes. How can a dog then enter and exit the ATM freely and stay there without being whisked away? Nobody seems to know. The security personnel was not available to question. This incident, however, raises questions about ATM security not even mentioning the fact that an untrained stray dog can be quite harmful by itself.
