The Mummy Is Coming Back, With Tom Cruise

Universal’s hugely popular The Mummy series is coming back, and coming back pretty soon. Universal’s monster universe, which is set to reboot many popular franchises such as the Dracula, Van Helsing and Frankenstein has its eyes set on a March 24, 2017 release of the The Mummy’s newest sequel.

According to a report by The Hollywood Reporter, Alex Krutzman is the director of the film. The script is written by John Spaihts and the movie will be produced by Sean Daniel, Chris Morgan and Krutzman himself. The report mentions that Universal was looking for a big Hollywood star for this movie Tom Cruise apparently fits the bill. No official comment from Universal has arrived so far.

The first three Mummy movies starred Brendan Fraser. Rachel Weisz starred in the first two movies but her role was played by Maria Bello in the third.
