Shaolin Soccer To Turn Real? Chinese Academy Mixing Martial Arts And Football

Stephen Chow’s Shaolin Soccer is one of the most popular movies by the Chinese movie star. In the movie, a group of seven Shaolin trained Kung-Fu masters form a football team and with their unique abilities attained from practising martial arts defeat Team Dragon. This fantasy entertainment plot may soon turn into reality as 100 best students from the respected Shaolin Tagou Martial Arts School in Dengfeng, China will be sent to a government funded football academy this year.

Director of government sports bureau in Henan, Zhang Wenshen said, “This is a bold attempt by the province to bring Shaolin kung fu into soccer to deepen football reform and promote the Chinese martial art.” Three coaches have been appointed at the academy to teach the students the nuances of football.
