Dilip Kumar Awarded Padma Bibhushan At His House By Home Minister Rajnath Singh

Veteran Bollywood star Dilip Kumar was awarded the Padma Bibhushan award at his house by home minister of India Rajnath Singh yesterday on 13th December. He was awarded the Padma Bibhushan in January this year but could not be present at the ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan due to ill health.

The veteran actor was awarded the Padma Bibhushan for his achievements in the Indian film industry. Born Yusuf Khan on 11th December, 1922, in Peshawar district of undivided india, Yusuf became Dilip Kumar once he entered the Mumbai film industry. In a career that spanned over 6 decades, Dilip Kumar’s first film was Jwar Bhata in 1944 and his last was Qila in 1998. Dilip Kumar was the inaugural recipient of the Filmfare Best Actor award in 1954 and went on to win it another 7 times, a recod still unbroken for this category. He was awarded the Padma Bhushan in 1991, Dadasaheb Phalke award in 1994 and Pakistan’s highest civilian award  Nishan-e-Imtiaz in 1997.
