In an official statement, Chelsea Football Club has confirmed the appointment of Guus Hiddink as the manager till the end of season. Hiddink was on the radar of Chelsea as they parted ways with Jose Mourinho couple of days back. Hiddink’s first stint at Chelsea was in 2009 when he was brought at the help following a poor run in the league but managed to win the FA Cup and secured EPL 3rd place for Chelsea.
Hiddink said, “I am excited to return to Stamford Bridge. Chelsea is one of the biggest clubs in the world but is not where it should be at the moment. However, I am sure we can all turn this season around. ‘I am looking forward to working with the players and staff at this great club and especially renewing my wonderful relationship with the Chelsea fans.”
Hiddink brings crucial experience for Chelsea who are on the brink of relegation at the moment. he has previously coached top flight foot ball teams such as PSV Eindhoven, Real Madridand and Real Betis. He has also coached the national sides of Netherlands, South Korea, Russia, Turkey and Australia.
