Chennaiyin FC’s win of ISL 2015 was marred by the arrest of their captain Elano Blumer shortly after the match. Elano allegedly assaulted FC Goa co-owner Dattaraj Salgaonkar in the FC Goa dugout. Madgaon Police arrested Elano under section 341 of Indian Penal Code. After detaining the player for 4 hours, Elano Blumer was released on bail.
Goa chief minister Laxmikant Parsekar attended the game after being invited by Mr. Salgaonkar. He left before the prize distribution and said to The Hindu, “I left the stadium when, apart from poor refereeing, I noticed the Chennaiyin FC captain insulting, abusing and assaulting Mr. Salgaonkar. I did not find it worthwhile to even wait for the prize distribution function. I was invited for the match by Mr. Salgaonkar.”
