Lionel Messi Marks 500th Appearance For Barcelona With A Goal As Barca Win 4 – 0

In his 500th match for Barcelona against Real Betis, Lionel Messi scored his 425th goal as his team won the game comfortably 4 – 0. Barcelona went 2 – 0 up in the first half albeit with a bit of controversy. Barca fans had their hearts in their mouths as Real Betis goalkeeper knocked Messi at the side of his head while trying to clear a ball on 27th minute.

It seemed an injured Messi would have to be replaced but much to the delight of Barca fans and management, Messi continued. Penalty was given which Neymar could not score from but defender Heiko Westermann knocked the ball inside the goal trying to clear.

Messi scored his 425th goal for Barcelona just six minutes later and the first half ended in a score of 2 – 0. After half time, ‘El Pistolero’ Luis Suarez continued his fine form in recent months as he scored 2 goals in quick succession to cement a 4 – 0 win for Barcelona. With this win Barcelona move to the top of La Liga with 38 points and a goal difference of 25.
