Government Confirms Quota For Women In Paramilitary Forces

On Tuesday 5th January, Home Minister Rajnath Singh announced 33% quota for women in paramilitary forces Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). A 15% quota is reserved for Border Security Force (BSF), Indo Tibetan Police Force (ITBP) and Sashatra Seema Bal (SSB). The decision comes after the sixth report of committee on empowerment of women.

The home minister said in a statement, “With a view to enhance representation of women in central armed police forces, home minister Rajnath Singh has approved 33% posts at constable level for being filled up by women.” The reservation is supposed to be horizontal in nature. At the moment there are only 6,300 women personnel in CRPF and just 9% of Delhi Police Force are women.
