Top seeds Sania Mirza and Martina Hingis expectedly won the Sidney International 2016 WTA tournament by defeating Caroline Garcia and Kristian Mladenovic 1-6, 7-5, 10-5. With this win, the Indo – Swiss pair take their unbeaten matches tally to 30. Earlier they had broken the record of Gigi Fernandez and Natasha Zvereva when they defeated Raluca Olaru and Yaroslava Shvedova in the semifinal.

With this win, ‘Santina’ will move into the Australian Open with lots of confidence and a purple patch of form under their belts. If they manage to win the Australian Open, it will be their third grand slam title in a row after the wins in Wimbledon and US Open in 2015. Sania is now number one in the women’s doubles rankings followed by Martina at number 2.
