Sri Lanka’s Financial Crime Investigation Division (FCID) has interrogated national team cricketers Kusal Perera and Rangana Herath over a match-fixing scandal that is under investigation. It was brought to light after a complaint from Sri Lanka sports minister Dayasiri Jayasekera. According to reports, Sri Lanka cricket team captain Angelo Mathews and team manager Woutersz will also be questioned soon.
Perera had earlier claimed that a bookie had approached Herath and him to underperform during the test series against West Indies. Jayasekera’s complaint also mentions a coach and a net bowler who might be linked to match fixers. FCID will also probe Sri Lanka’s lacklustre performance in New Zealand where they managed to lose all of the T20, ODI and test series by large margins.
