Roger Federer Flies Past Tomas Berdych To Reach Australia Open Semifinal

Swiss maestro Roger Federer comfortably defeated Czech Tomas Berdych in straight sets to reach his 12th Australian Open semifinal in 13 years. The 34 year old world number 3 defeated the sixth seed 7-6, 6-2, 6-4 to set up a match with wither Novac Djokovic or Kei Nishikori.

Federer was in vintage form today as he broke Berdych’s service several times during the match to make it look easy. Tomas was able to save a set point in the first set to take it to the tie-breaker where Federer prevailed 7-4. In the next set, Federer broke Berdych twice to clinch the set 6-2. In the last set Federer saved a break point at a crucial pint to finally seal the match. After the match Roger said, “Tomas has caused me a lot of problems over the years and it’s a pleasure playing against him. He’s one of the guys that makes you play better, he’s beaten me on some of the biggest courts around the world.”
