In a clinical display of power, aggression and skills, the unstoppable duo of Sania Mirza and Martina Hingis demolished 13th seed Julia Goerges and Karolina Pliskova 6-1, 6-0 to reach the women’s doubles final of Australian Open 2016. Perhaps losing a set in their quarterfinal match had the pepped up the pair a bit as Julia and Karolina bore the full brunt of the devastation. Sania and Martina broke their opponents twice in the first set and did not concede a single game in the second set.
They will face the 7th seed Czech pair of Andrea Hlavackova and Lucie Hradecka in the final. With the kind of form ‘Santina’ is in, they look the favourites to win their third grand slam in a row and take unbeaten match count to 36.
