Serena Williams seems to be in the form of her life as she completely wrecked the Australian Open final dreams of Agnieszka Radwanska in the semifinal. The 34 year old American demolished her opponent 6-0, 6-4 in a rare display of power, accuracy and aggression. In fact, it is one of the most one-sided grand slam semifinals in recent times. Perhaps fitting the beating Radwanska took, the crowd had the chance to cheer for her for the first time when she held her serve in the second set.
Conceding the 1st set in just 20 minutes, Radwanska was looking down the barrel but managed to make it 3-3 in the second set. But Serena prevailed once more and a crucial break made sure she reach her 7th Australian Open final. In the final Serena will face off against German Angelique Kerber. If Serena can pull off a win, she will equal the 22 grand slam record of Steffi Graf in the Open era. After the win Serena said, “I felt like I really committed myself … it’s just a great thing to be in the final after taking such a long time off.”
