A team of Indian and German paleontologists and geologists has found a dinosaur fossil in a village in Kutch, Gujarat. Led by renowned German paleontologist Matiew Sebarti, the team found what seems to be part of the animal’s backbone. The two feet long piece of bone suggests to experts that the dinosaur was 10 to 15 meters long. It was most likely a carnivore from the Jurassic age.
This is the oldest such fossil found in this century. India, Sri Lanka and Madagascar have always been a hot bed of dinosaur remains as these parts made up a large landmass during the Jurassic age when dinosaurs roamed. Since 2008, no fossil has been found where a large part of dinosaur anatomy was intact. Thus this fossil could lead to important discoveries regarding dinosaurs of Jurassic age.
