Sahara Owned Aamby Valley Resort Sealed For Outstanding Dues
On today 1st March, Mulshi Taluka Tahsildar closed the Sahara Group owned Aamby Valley resort in Lonavala. According to reports, the resort has not paid non-agricultural tax to the tune of 4.82 crore INR which prompted Maharashtra government to take this step. Sahara group owner Subrata Roy is currently in police custody over allegations of financial frauds and cheat.
Sahara Group amassed a huge sum to bring the Aamby Valley resort to life and recently another 15 crore was injected in the project. Sahara Credit Cooperative has 1,039 crore INR worth of shares in the resort but other investors in the cooperative complained of non-payment by Sahara on their deposits and investments. Subrata Roy is currently trying to curve out a deal that can save him further jail time and this step by government might further jeopardise his plans.
