Despite having a forgettable French Open in their doubles endeavour, both Leander Paes and Sania Mirza advanced to mixed doubles semifinals at Roland Garros with their respective partners. Eyeing a “Career Slam”, the unseeded duo of Leander Paes and Martina Hingis brushed aside Elena Vesnina and Bruno Soares in straight sets 6-4, 6-3. Where as second seed duo Sania Mirza and Ivan Dodig achieved a hard fought victory over seventh seeded Yung-Jan Chan and Max Mirnyi 6-1, 3-6, 10-6.
In the semifinals Paes and Hingis will face challenge from sixth seeded Edouard Roger-Vasselin and Andrea Hlavackova. Sania and Dodig will play against third seeded Kristina Mladenovic and Pierre-Hugues Herbert. If both Paes and Sania manage to win their semifinal matches, they will face off against each other in the final. Paes has 9 grand slam mixed doubles titles in his career and Sania has won 3 mixed doubles slams.
