Red Corner Notice Cannot Be Issued Against Vijay Mallya

National News, News

In response to Enforcement Directorate’s (ED) request to issue red corner notice against Vijay Mallya, Interpole has rejected the plea saying there is not enough evidence against Mr. Mallya to issue an RCN. The fact that there is no extradition process or trial against Mr. Mallya till now has also worked against the request.

UK government had earlier refused to deport him as per immigration laws. ED is currently planning to submit the red corner request again via MLAT (Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty). As per ED, the plea through MLATshould be sufficient in obtaining an RCN and then the extradition process against Mr. Mallya can be commenced.
