15 doctors have been arrested Nepal for pursuing medical degrees (MBBS) using fake 10th and 12th certificates from Bihar. Nepal’s Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) launched an investigation after the recent Bihar 12th Standard exam scandal. The probe found 15 doctors having used fake certificates all of which were issued from Bihar. 9 of the 15 doctors were arrested from Birgunj, a neighbouring place of Bihar’s Champaran.
The arrests have fuelled a protest as medical practitioners gathered around the CIB office for protest. Nepal Medical Association (NMA) has also expressed their annoyance over the arrests commenting that CIB was treating the doctors like terrorists. Among the arrested are Birgunj Narayani Hospital’s Dr. Panna Lal Patel, Dr. Saroj Singh, Dr. Kush Raj Giri, National Medical College and Hospital, Birgunj’s Dr. Rahullah and private doctors Dr. Binod Shan and Dr. Arun Kumar.
