Eight inmates held up in a District Courts Building cell in Forth Worth City broke out of their cell to save a guard who had a cardiac arrest. According to reports, the guard was the lone person guarding the prisoners. He was talking to the inmates and making jokes when he suddenly suffered a heart attack. The inmates shouted for help but no one arrived. Then one of them managed to break the cell lock and rush to the guard’s aid.
They shouted and banged on the doors as other guards rushed in. Paramedics managed to save the guard’s life using defibrillator. After the incident the lock of the cell door was strengthened. One of the inmates Nick Kelton said in an interview later that if such an incident happens again, he will again try to help.
