Ellen Pompeo, who plays the lead role of Dr. Meredith Grey in the popular ABC show Grey’s Anatomy, is not planning to quit the show any time soon. As the show’s 13th season hits television, Ellen is one of the only 4 original actors remaining with the show. A number of the show’s actors have left to pursue their careers in films including Patrick Dempsey.
In a recent interview, Ellen opened her mind and shared her concerns about making it in the Hollywood at her age. She said, “My decision to stay on was based solely on age. At 33, I was wise enough to know my clock was already ticking in Hollywood,” The actor said her break in Hollywood came too late and by the time she got some roles, she was already in her late 20s.
The actor started playing the role of Meredith Grey at the age of 33. She believes if she had got the role earlier in her career, things would have panned out differently for her. “I probably would have done my time, then gone out to search for other things,” said the actor. She added, “I thought, ‘Why would I leave something that is super successful and pays me great to search the landscape?’”
