What do you expect from an 86 year old nun? Eat, sleep, pray? Or maybe do a little social service, whatever her frail body and age allows her to do. If she is quite fit maybe a bit of exercise. Do you expect her to cycle past you in blazing speed? Do you expect her to run miles after miles shoulder to shoulder with younger compatriots? Swim like a fish even at this age? Do you expect her to complete the most gruelling of all triathlons, the Ironman Triathlon?
Yet, Sister Madonna Buder can do all of that at 86 years of age. She has been competing at Ironman contests for the last 45 years! Yes, what nickname other than the “Iron Nun” could befit this iron lady more? As an Ironman competitor, Sister Buder completes 3.86 km swimming, 180.25 km cycling and 42.2 km in a single day. She is also the oldest person ever to finish an Ironman triathlon. As part of the Nike’s new “Unlimited Youth” advertisement, Sister Buder has shocked the world. So what’s your excuse?
