World’s Longest Reigning King, Bhumibol Adulyadej Of Thailand, Dies At 88
World’s longest reigning monarch, Bhumibol Adulyadej of Thailand has passed away after 70 years at the helm. He was the 9th monarch of Thailand. Bhumibol was born in US in 1927 and ascended throne in 1946 at the age of 18. He met US president Eisenhower in 1960 during his first international tour as a king. He has met 12 US presidents including Barack Obama.

King Bhumibol was sick since 2015. He was passionate about photography and lived a moderate lifestyle. He is often credited with shaping the modern Thailand due to his great relation with several heads of states around the world. After his death his 63 year old son Maha Vajiralongkorn will ascend the throne as the next king. After Bhumibol’s death Queen Elizabeth II is the longest reigning monarch in the history. King Bhumibol was also the richest monarch in the world with an estimated 30 billion USD of net worth.
