Indian army officer Second Lt. E Thomas Joseph had lost his life way back in 1992 fighting insurgency in Nagaland. It took over 24 hours to finally bring his mortal remains back to his hometown of Kanjiramatttom in Kerala. This feat was possible thanks to help from his batch mates in the Indian Army and perseverance of his parents.
E Thomas Joseph lost his life 12th June, 1992 at the hands of insurgents and his body was buried at a church in Chakabama, Nagaland. After so many years, arrangements were finally made to bring his mortal remains to his hometown. The remains were brought to Holy Cross Church. Finally his remains were buried in his hometown with full military honours. His father retired Subedar Major A T Joseph and his mother Rosamma Joseph were emotional to finally have their son’s remains back to where it belongs.
