Two time Olympic medallist Indian wrestler Sushil Kumar might join WWE soon following the footsteps of “The Great Khali.” WWE’s Director of Talent Development Canyon Ceman is currently in New Delhi and he is supposed to have talks with Sushil Kumar today. Apart from recruiting Sushil, WWE might also open its doors for trainee wrestlers of Chhatrasal Stadium, where Sushil Kumar trained throughout his career.
If the deal goes through, it will be huge push for popularising WWE in India. After “The Great Khali”, WWE hired Lovepreet Sangha and Satender Ved Pal to represent India in their roster. After his failed attempt to represent Indian in Rio Olympics, Sushil Kumar has been interested about professional wrestling. Raman Raheja, and official of Sushil’s management company Super Sport said in a statement, “We are exploring all options for Sushil to get into professional wrestling and are in talks with WWE, I can’t obviously give you internal details of when we are meeting etc, but I can confirm that Sushil is very much interested in growing a Pro Wrestling career now.”
