On the eve of his 90th birthday, rock and roll legend Chuck Berry announced his first album in 38 years and possibly his last ever album. An icon and inspiration to bands like The Beatles and Rolling Stones, Chuck Berry’s songs created an uproar in the fifties and sixties. Singles like “Roll Over Beethoven”, “Sweet Little Sixteen”, “Maybellene”, “Rock and Roll Music” and “Johnny B Goode” set fire on the charts.
He has been active for 7 decades and regularly performs at his club Blueberry Hill in St. Louis. In a statement, Chuck said, “I’m growing old! I’ve worked on this record for a long time. Now I can hang up my shoes!” The album will also feature his children Charles Berry Jr. and Ingrid Berry.
Chuck once laid out the career for megastars like Bruce Springsteen who played as his back up band. John Lennon said, “If you tried to give rock and roll another name, you might call it ‘Chuck Berry’.” The whole world waits if the master can do it once more in his last album.
