The statement issued by Atletico Nacional requests, “that the Copa Sudamericana title be handed to Chapecoense Football Association as an honorary trophy for its great loss, and as a posthumous homage to the victims of the fatal accident that has put our sport in mourning.” Chapecoense had a meteoric rise in South American football as they were playing 4th division only 7 years ago. 7 Chapecoense footballers were not travelling on that place that had crashed.
