Sweden Breaks Wind Power Record, Generates 5.7 Million kWh In Stormy Weather

Sweden has broken its own wind power record by more than half a million kWh after producing 5.7 million kWh of power in stormy weather. Following hurricane Storm Urd, wind turbines in and around Sweden went into hyperdrive producing as much power equivalent to 6 nuclear power plants.

Sweden is continually pushing wind power and other alternate power sources while trying to cut down conventional energy production. in 2015 Sweden had produced total 16.6 tWh wind power which was 12% of the country’s total energy consumption. In the last week, wind power has fulfilled 26% of Sweden’s energy requirements, almost double that of the previous years.
