Usain Bolt’s Jamaican 4 X 100m relay teammate Nesta Carter has filed an appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS). Nesta won the 400m relay gold in 2008 Beijing Olympics along with Usain Bolt, Asafa Powell and Michael Frater. As he was retroactively found guilty of doping, his medal was stripped away recently. Asafa, Michael and Bolt also lost their medals thus destroying Bolt’s record of “Triple Triple” gold medals at 3 consecutive Olympics.
Nesta Carter’s lawyer Stuart Stimpson confirmed that the appeal was made within the 21 day deadline. “Yes, they were sent electronically today and the hard copies (sent by courier) will get there tomorrow, so they (documents) have been filed. We’ve paid our fees and we met our timeline.” Currently Carter is awaiting a date to appear in front of the CAS to present his case. If his appeal his successful Usain Bolt will regain his “Triple Triple”.
