If your idea of a gym session and weight loss is a bunch of people jumping and running and sweating and pushing and pulling, think again. Soon your most favorite gym exercise routine could be taking a quality nap for 45 minutes. At least that’s what David lloyd gym is trialling in UK. Appropriately named “napercise”, this mid afternoon gym session encourages people to take a quiet peaceful nap of 45 minutes. Single beds are provided to the clients as atmospheric sounds soothe them. Room temperature is said to be kept at a level that aids in calorie burning.
The innovative new training regime was introduced by the fitness chain after a study found that 86% of parents complain that they are fatigued. Sleep expert Kathryn Pinkham who is collaborating with David Lloyd’s Gym in this project said, “Sleep is a lot more important than people realise. We tend to focus on the short-term effects such as being tired or lacking concentration but it is also essential for our long-term physical and mental wellbeing too.” Apart from refreshing the clients this project claims to aid in calorie burning as well since human body continues to use calories even when asleep.
