In a rare twist of circumstances, the “Hunter” became the “Hunted” as a black rhinoceros at the Etosha National Park in Namibia charged a group of illegal poachers as one of them became severely injured. The injured poacher was later arrested and put in police custody. This incident took place on 14th October as the group was trying to hunt rhinoceros. According to the arrested poacher Luteni Muharukua, one rhino appeared out of nowhere and charged the group.
Luteni Muharukua fell while escaping and the rhino injured his leg badly. He was taken by his friends and hidden in a nearby mountain where police found him. Newspaper The Namibian published a cartoon entitled, “The Poacher, poached!”. The Etosha National Park is notorious for poaching as poachers killed as many as 7 rhinos between June 2016 and June 2017.
