International News, News

The Nepalese government has canceled a prominent hydropower project with China to be built on the Budhi Gandaki river. The project was conceptualized one and a half years ago. Chinese company Gezhouba Water & Power (Group) Co Ltd was awarded the project but the parliament has scrapped with over suspicion of irregularities and a lack of transparency in the matter.

The information was made public by deputy prime minister of Nepal Kamal Thapa. It was a 1200 megawatt project and would have been the largest hydroelectric plant in the country.
