Pele Voted Greatest Footballer Of All Time In History Channel Poll

Arguably one of the greatest footballers to have ever played the game, Pele was once again crowned the greatest footballer of all time in a poll conducted by History Channel. History channel’ss History of Football season is running from 28th May 10th June and the poll was part of the series. In the poll, Pele came out on top beating the likes of Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, George Best, Diego Maradona and Bobby Moore.

The gap between Lionel Messi and Ronaldo was just a few votes as Messi closely pipped CR7 for the second spot. England legend George Best, also known as white Pele, came in the fourth place as Diego Maradona claimed the 5th spot. Pele, often considered the first superstar of football, has scored a monstrous 727 goals in his illustrious career and has come on top of many such polls previously. Vice President of History Dan Korn said, “History’s special season of football programming aims to ignite an entertaining debate on what were the ultimate historic moments of the sport, who stands as the best player in history, which coaches most shaped the game – and much more.”
