The ongoing 2nd test between India and South Africa at Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru has been officially called off after umpires Ian Gould and Richard Kettleborough inspected the ground at 11:30 AM today. India was in a strong position after the first day’s play with SA all out for 214. Indian openers managed to amass 80 runs without any loss, the first 50 run opening partnership in a long time.
After the dominating win in Mohali, India came into the second test hoping to secure a 2 – 0 lead while South Africa were looking down the barrel with Dale Steyn out of the match with an injure. This was the first time South Africa took to a test match without the “Steyn Gun” after 48 test matches.
Cyclonic rain prevented any play on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th days as well. Now both teams would look to secure a win in the Nagpur test.
