Who doesn’t know the planet of Azeroth, the battle ground of early real time strategy games which later became one of the most beloved massively multiplayer online games created by Blizzard Entertainment!!! We are undoubtedly talking about the Warcraft & World of Warcraft series. You have all revered the games and now forthcoming a large screen adaptation to be released by Universal Pictures. Coming June 2016, Blizzard Entertainment, partnered with Legendary Pictures, is coming to you with epic fantasy film Warcraft or Warcraft: The Beginning to be more precise.
Care to know why “The Beginning”? Well, some would say, it will create a new saga of fantasy films. Hell Yeah!! We’ll all love that but let’s peek on the other side as well. As per the released plot, the film is set to present the inceptive dissension between Human and Orcs, depicted in the first chapter of the real time strategy game sequence: Warcraft: Orcs & Humans first released on November 1994. The film is directed by Duncan Jones known for popular science fiction films Source Code (2011) and Moon (2009). To name some of the main protagonists of the film we would mention Anduin Lothar (played by Travis Fimmel popularly known for his role of Ragnar Lothbrok in the History Channel series Vikings), King Llane Wrynn (played by Dominic Cooper popularly known for his role of Howard Stark in Marvel Cinematic Universe), Medivh (played by Ben Foster known for his supporting roles in The Mechanic and 3:10 to Yuma), Durotan (played by Toby Kebbell known for his roles in Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and Fantastic Four) and Garona Halforcen (played by Paula Patton known for her roles in Déjà Vu and Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol).
Director Duncan Jones is adapting a world of fanciful characters and places in the film and believe it or not Warcraft is set to become one of the most anticipated yet touch-and-go film experience of 2016. Evidently film critics have started asking whether it will be yet another exhibition of CGI (Computer Generated Imagery) and graphics experiments like The Hobbit Trilogy. After all, that can’t be helped in this kind of epic adventure movies. Well, there could be some room for second thoughts as well. During interviews with actors at last Blizzcon event, it was revealed that real sets like forests or mountain trails were used during filming and that influenced the dedication and performance of the actors a lot. So now, it’s just a matter of time before we’ll experience the much envisaged battle of Human realm of Azeroth facing Orc realm of Draenor as both species will fight to save their people while the Dark Portal connects two worlds. We don’t want to spoil more. So, Stay tuned…
