British Actor Alan Rickman, Who Immortalized ‘Severus Snape’ In Harry Potter, Dies At 69

British stage and on-screen actor Alan Rickman, whose portrayal of Severus Snape in all of the Harry Potter series movies has been etched into the minds of all movie lovers, died today 14th January, 2016 at the age of 69. Alan’s claim to fame in theatres via his portrayal of  Vicomte de Valmont in the 1985 play Les Liaisons Dangereuses for which he received a Tony award nomination. His claim to fame on the silver screen was via the role of Hans Gruber in Die Hard.

Alan has won an Emmy, a BAFTA, a Golden Globe and a Screen Actors Guild Award in his career. He played Rasputin in Rasputin: Dark Servant of Destiny for which he bagged the Golden Globe, BAFTA and the Screen Actors Guild Award. Alan was 8th the on Empire’s 100 Sexiest Stars in film history list of 2010. His last released movie was ‘A Little Chaos’ that released in 2015. Alan was suffering from cancer. He is survived by spouse Rima Horton. Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling expressed shock over Alan’s death and sent her condolences to Rima over Twitter. His co-stars and other actors also paid their homages over Twitter.
