Leander Paes And Martina Hingis Win French Open Mixed Doubles Title

The unseeded Indo-Swiss pair of Leander Paes and Martina Hingis prevailed over the indo-Czech second seeded pair of Sania Mirza and Ivan Dodig today to claim the French Open 2016 Mixed Doubles title. With this title the 42 year old Indian veteran Leander also completed his much coveted career slam. Sania was also in the lookout for her 4th mixed doubles title but she and Dodig came up short in a 3 set fight that went down to the wire.

Leander and Hingis started the match in a subdued manner as Sania and Dodig claimed an early lead of 6-4 in the first set as they converted a break point. But Paes and Hingis came back strong in the second set as they broke Mirza and Dodig twice to win the set 4-6. It all rested on the third set which went to the tie breaker and the Indo-Swiss pair kept their cool to clinch the match and French Open 2016 title at 10-8.
