The latest actor to play James Bind, the legendary British spy with a liking for beautiful women and Martinis, Daniel Craig is not actually fond of his role he has brought to life so well in the last 4 movies. In fact, Daniel Craig is the most successful Bond actor over as Casino Royale, Spectre, Skyfall and Quantum of Solace managed to garner over 800 million USD. The actor, however, is averse to playing the role of Bond again, much like Sean Connery was decades back.
In a recent interview when Daniel was asked about his wishes of doing further Bond movies, he replied, “I’d rather break this glass and slash my wrists. No, not at the moment. Not at all. That’s fine. I’m over it at the moment. We’re done. All I want to do is move on. If I did another Bond movie, it would only be for the money.” Money will most likely not be a problem as Sony has already approached Daniel with 150 million USD for 2 more Bond movies.
While it is not clear why actors like Sean Connery and Daniel Craig are averse to the Bond franchise, it might have to do with what happened to other actors who played Bond once the franchise moved on. Pierce Brosnon, Roger Moore and Timothy Dulton found it tough getting their careers ahead after the Bond franchise and slowly their stars waned. Much like Pierce, Daniel was also not well known before the Bond franchise and it gave him a taste of success.
