Indian shuttler Kidambi Srikanth defeated world number 1 Son Wan Ho in a three game thriller to reach the final Indonesia Super Series. This is the second consecutive super series final for Srikanth. He had saved some of his best play for the semifinal as he quickly downed Korean Son Wan Ho in the first game to take it 21-15. The Korean countered strongly in the second game, also helped by some errors from Srikanth and took the second game comfortably 14-21.
It all came down to the last game which virtually went right down to the wire. Both players brought out their A-games and did not give each other any leeway. Poised at 20-20 one point, Srikanth had the last laugh as he kept his nerves and smashed past Son Wah Ho to 24-22 thus taking the game and the match. With this stellar win Srikanth became the first Indian ever to reach the men’s singles final of Indonesia Super Series Premier.
